Wire and cable harness accessories are used to bundle, clip, clamp, label, guide, and protect wires and cables. There are several basic types of products. Strain reliefs protect electronic products by absorbing the mechanical stress caused by pushing and pulling. Ties and wraps are used to bundle wires and cables together. Cord grips are used in a variety of indoor and outdoor applications to prevent cable pullout and control the arc of bend. Like many wire and cable harness accessories, control grips are also designed to prevent the ingress of dirt, moisture, coolants, and corrosive fumes.

Specifications for wire and cable harness accessories include maximum diameter, temperature range, and approvals. Maximum diameter is measured in English units such as inches (in) or metric units such as millimeters (mm) or centimeters (mm). Similarly, temperature range is measured in either degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or degrees Celsius (°C). There are several approvals for wire and cable harness accessories. Wire and cable harness accessories that meet published standards of safety from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) feature the UL Listing Mark.

Wire and cable harness accessories are made from a variety of materials and are used in many different applications. Common materials of construction include aluminum, brass, bronze, plastic and nylon. Weatherproof or water-resistant products are used in marine environments as well as basements, garages, machine shops and humid areas. Products that provide a high degree of breaking strength and weather resistance are impact-resistant and dimensionally stable. Specialized wire and cable harness accessories are also available for high-temperature or high-voltage applications.
